| | Description | Goddess Saraswati holding vina (lute,a music instrument) represents knowledge and learning and Ganesha symbolizes the vanquisher of all the obstacles. It is believed worshipping them during Diwali ushers in happiness, wealth, wisdom and prosperity in the family. Saraswati is shown as having four arms, and the most common items held by her in her hands are a book, a vina (lute), a mala, and a water pot. The book signified art, science and learning; the vina associates her with music and performing arts; and the prayer beads and water pot signifies her association with religious rites. | |

Saraswati statue May 12, 2010 This company clearly communicated with me when the order was received and shipped. Order was received expertly wrapped and in great shape. I was treated with respect and will definitely purchase from ShalinIndia again. The statue was exactly as depicted. I have seen many examples of metal work from India and the artisans that created this clearly care about their work.
Goddess of Arts Aug 02, 2008 Saraswati is the goddess of arts, music and learning. Poised on a lotus and playing 'veena', a traditional string instrument, the goddess is beautifully handcarved. Not to be missed the swan at her feet that is her vehicle according to Indian mythology.
